VIEW CATALOGUE

Galeri Prima together with Curate Henry Butcher aims to tell the stories of the country’s transformation – from 1957 to 2018 – from the perspectives of a total of 88 local artists.

It was not an easy task to get all 88 of them together – the young and emerging and those who have already established themselves in the arts community – but we managed to do it. Their works are placed side by side throughout the gallery.

For this is the beauty of Malaysia; they are a manifestation of one of Malaysia and Malaysians’ unique characteristics, namely unity. In reality, we are not only celebrating 61 years of Independence. We are also celebrating 61 years of unity among the people of Malaysia.

We would like to think that this is an exemplary exhibition to set the tone of this year’s National Day celebrations under the theme “Sayangi Malaysiaku”.

These artists have also unanimously agreed to contribute 40 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of their art works displayed at the exhibition to Tabung Harapan Malaysia. They see this as their little contribution to the country.

Morphosis begins on 27 August to 16 September 2018 at Galeri Prima Balai Berita Bangsar. Opening hours are 10am – 6pm. It will be opened daily except for public holidays.
