Organised by Curate Henry Butcher and Galeri Prima, The Young Contempo Showcase II features promising works from a selection of 24 award-winning Malaysian artists, presenting to collectors and the public a huge potential of the young generation artists. They have won either the UOB Painting of the Year Award, Malaysia Emerging Artist Award, Young Guns Award, Bakat Muda Sezaman, Balai Seni Open Show, Galeri Shah Alam Open Show, Nando’s Art Initiative, etc.

This exhibition aims to convey current artistic practices in Malaysia and introduce a new generation of promising artists and perspectives. A wide range of subjects such as culture, aesthetics and society are referenced through diverse mediums. The various explorations of concepts and techniques demonstrate the creative power and innovative spirit of today’s young artists. The works by these artists can be viewed as a mirror of constantly evolving times, and the stories told encourages the audience to see things in new contexts and possibilities.

The selected artists are Ajim Juxta, Anisa Abdullah, Azizi Latif, Azrul Azrai, Cheong Tuck Wai, Chok Yue Zan, Faizal Suhif, Gan Tee Sheng, Haslin Ismail, Hug Yin Wan, Ismail Awi, Ivnn Tang, Khairul Izham, Leow Xu Jia, Louise Low, Ruzzeki Harris, Sabihis Pandi, Safuan Nasiar, Shafiq Nordin, Shaliza Juanna, Tiong Chai Heing, Trixie Tan Lu Man, Wan Amy Nazira and Yim Yen Sum.
