Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers present a series of public art programmes in conjunction with the first solo exhibition by an established Malaysian artist Hoe Say Yong titled Inner World to be held at Curate SENI Mont Kiara which runs from 13 June until 12 July 2015.
The objective of this first installment of public art programme is to introduce the works of Hoe Say Yong to new collectors. This sharing session allows the appreciation of art, particularly the works of Hoe Say Yong to be discussed alongside general collecting tips.
The event coincides with the official opening of the Inner World by Hoe Say Yong and the public art programme consists of two sessions: Art Appreciation by Art Collectors; and an exclusive wealth management topic on ‘Estate Planning & You’ organised by AmBank.
Our target audience ranges from the general public who are interested in art to the younger and seasoned collectors including customers and guests from AmBank keen to have an understanding in art.

Discover the world of art collecting with three seasoned collectors. Find out what inspires them to appreciate art as they share their personal experience in this session.
SPEAKER
Mr. Too Hing Yeap, Billy
Malaysia
Mr. Too is a lawyer and a company director and has been collecting art for the past 15 years. He has been interested in viewing artworks since the 1970s. He shares his passion with his wife Sin Min who is also a lawyer. Their artwork collection has been featured in ‘30 Art Friends’ publication in 2010. Part of his and his wife’s sensational collection was exhibited for public viewing for the very first time at The Edge Galerie last year.
Dr. Krishna Gopal Rampal
Malaysia
Dr. Krishna Gopal Rampal is a Professor and Dean at the Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine. He has an avid interest in art and has been collecting works of art since 1991. He was on the Board of Trustees, National Art Gallery Malaysia, between 1998 and 2004 and Chairman of its Acquisition and Programs Committee from 2001 to 2004.
A coffee table book “Sacred Structures: Artistic Renditions of Hindu Temples in Malaysia and Singapore” based on his collection of paintings was published by Bluetoffee Publishers, Singapore in 2008. He has had four exhibitions of his collection of paintings of Hindu temples, the most recent being Sacred Structures: Ten Years of Temples at the Asian Art Museum University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in August/September 2014.
Works from his collection have been loaned for major exhibitions in public galleries. He has also been invited to write in exhibition catalogues, launch art exhibitions and judge art competitions. His artwork collection has been featured in the ’30 Art Friends’ publications.
Mr. Jimmy Chua Tin Chew
Singapore
Mr. Jimmy Chua is a former Singaporean diplomat who has worked and lived in New York, Kuala Lumpur, London and Ho Chi Minh City during his 30-year career in government service. His interest in art was first kindled when he lived in New York City in the early 1980s where he fell in love with Vincent Van Gogh masterpiece “Starry Night” at Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).
He first started collecting Southeast Asian art in 1991 whilst living in Malaysia and has a special interest in Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnamese art. He was a Member of the Singapore National Gallery’s Art Acquisition Committee from 2010 to 2012. He is now an art advisor in private practice, and owns an online art website www.chrysefineart.com which specialises in historical and modern Southeast Asian art.

Mr. Chris Foong

Mr. Chris Foong is a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner and has been in the industry since 2004. Registered with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner, he holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science from Coventry University, UK. He is also a Capital Markets & Services Representative License (“CMSRL”) holder. Mr. Foong joined Rockwills in 2004 and is currently the Principal Consultant of Rockwills Advisory Services Sdn. Bhd. His expertise is in the structuring of estate planning for various circumstances using both onshore and offshore vehicles and multigenerational wealth planning.
